The Obligation of Da'wah: Individual Responsibility in an Age of Challenges

The Ummah's need today for sincere callers who devote their direction solely to Allah, Exalted and Sublime, exceeds its need for food and drink; for through da'wah, hearts are quickened and affairs are set aright. A Muslim should not allow feelings of shortcoming or the weight of sins to deter them from this station; for if people were to wait for an infallible reformer, the religion would not have stood after the Prophets.
Practical Steps on the Path of Da'wah
Every Muslim must take initiative by adopting serious steps in this path, including:
Allocating a fixed daily time for the service of the religion, even if it is but one hour through available means.
Attaining deeper knowledge of the methods and arts of da'wah, and listening to specialists in this field to develop one's skills.
Choosing the most suitable field for oneself, whether through visual content, writing, or direct counsel to peers.
Confronting the People of Falsehood
The proponents of falsehood do not tire of adorning their misguidance and spending all that is precious to lead people astray; the people of Truth are more deserving of this competition in virtue. Allah, Exalted and Sublime, praised this path in His Noble Book:
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, 'Indeed, I am of the Muslims'
[Surah Fussilat: 33]
Therefore, da'wah must be characterized by intelligence and wisdom, using language that resonates with people, attending to the quality of presentation, and ensuring the idea is conveyed with clarity and insight, in compliance with His saying:
Say, 'This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me'
[Surah Yusuf: 108]
