Whoever contemplates the map of contemporary atheism realizes with certainty that it is no longer confined to the traditional mold that prevailed in the 1960s, which consisted of the mere denial of the existence of the Creator, Glory be to Him. Rather, atheism today has become a multifaceted phenomenon taking on multiple intellectual forms and patterns, which necessitates that those engaged in da'wah and scientific research grasp these transformations.
Prominent Manifestations of Atheism in the Current Era
Several deviant paths can be observed that fall within the contemporary atheistic system or intersect with it, the most important of which are:
Atheism of Denying the Creator: The classical pattern based on the rejection of the Maker.
Atheism of Denying the Sunnah: Which seeks to demolish the second source of legislation as a prelude to diluting the creed.
Extreme Nationalist Tendencies (Kemetism): Which attempt to revive ancient paganisms as an alternative to Islamic identity.
Spiritual Atheism: Represented by meditation and yoga practices detached from Revelation, which promote the "deification of the self".
Deviant Modernist Currents: Such as Shahrurism and other absurd readings of Sharia texts.
Radical Feminism: Which clashes with the fitrah and divine legislations under the pretext of absolute equality.
Perennialism (Unity of Religions): A call aimed at dissolving doctrinal differences and the truths of faith into a single crucible.
Each of these types has its philosophical roots and psychological and social causes, which necessitates the building of an integrated da'wah project that understands these variables and deals with them through a rigorous scientific methodology.
