Dr. Haitham Talaat
Whoever contemplates the map of contemporary creedal challenges realizes that the danger of deviation does not stop at a single limit; rather, it varies in intensity and impact on the entity of the Ummah and the future of its generations. Hence, it is necessary to highlight the hierarchy of this danger according to the depth of misguidance and the concealment of the distorters.
Spiritual and Materialistic Atheism
If the sinner commits a sin while acknowledging the foundation, the materialistic atheist destroys the foundation entirely, making them more dangerous to the Ummah than a thousand sinners. Nevertheless, the spiritual atheist represents an even more lethal degree; for they cloak atheism in a false spiritual guise that deceives souls thirsty for faith.
Among the most prominent promoters of this path who should be cautioned against are: Ahmed Amara, Sumaya Al-Nasser, and Layla Abdel Latif.
The Danger of the New Esotericism
As for the pinnacle of danger, it is represented by the esoteric atheist—one who wears the mantle of renewal or the esoteric interpretation of texts, distorting words from their proper contexts from within the intellectual system. Such a person is more dangerous than a thousand spiritual atheists.
Leading the figures of this New Esotericism are names and channels promoting this deviant thought, including: Youssef Abu Awad and Muhammad Shahrour, in addition to platforms such as Mojtamaa Channel and Takween.
