The Peril of Incorporating Hindu Meditation Practices into Educational Curricula

The infiltration of certain imported practices into educational curricula, particularly those carrying creedal and philosophical dimensions alien to Islam, necessitates a firm stance and meticulous review. It has been recently observed that so-called meditation sessions and deep breathing techniques have been included within the educational content for youth; these are, in reality, practices rooted in Eastern philosophies and the Hindu religion.
The Pagan Roots of Meditation Practices
Meditation sessions and specific breathing patterns are not merely physical or relaxation exercises; rather, they are pagan practices aimed at completely stilling the mind through postures linked to the mythology of the Mahabharata (Hindu mythological texts). These rituals aim to open the way for specific notions to take root in the heart, representing a dangerous gateway to distorting the sound creed of children.
The Western Legal Stance
It is noteworthy that these practices were banned in American public schools by a Court of Appeals decision, based on legal findings that consider meditation an indisputably Hindu religious practice. Since laws there prohibit religious instruction in public schools, they were explicitly banned due to their pagan religious character.
An Appeal to Officials and Educators
The creed of our children is a trust upon all our shoulders, and it is unacceptable for the youth to be taught the fundamentals of the Hindu religion under the guise of self-development or psychological tranquility in our textbooks. Therefore, we appeal to educational institutions, foremost among them Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, to immediately review these curricula and hold those responsible for inserting these alien passages accountable, in order to safeguard the minds of the next generation from creedal deviations.
