The Peril of Deeming Sin Permissible and the Psychological Justifications for Transgression

Shortcomings in acts of worship or falling into the mire of sins and transgressions, despite their gravity, remain far less severe than denying the prohibition of a sin or attempting to rationalize and justify it in any form. A believer may be overcome by their lower self and fall into error, but the true danger lies in transforming this error into something habitual or legitimate within one's consciousness.
Acknowledgment of Sin: The Gateway to Repentance
Ethical and Sharia principles dictate that a mistake remains a mistake, regardless of how we attempt to beautify it or change its nomenclature. If a servant feels weakness before a sin, the way out lies in being truthful with oneself and turning to Allah with a broken heart, saying: "I am a sinner, and I ask Allah to guide me and accept my repentance." This sincere acknowledgment is better than attempting to convince oneself that the sin is natural merely due to habituation or psychological inclination.
Deeming a sin permissible and justifying it is a major calamity that exceeds, in its creedal and educational impact, the mere commission of the sin accompanied by remorse.
Self-Honesty and Reform
Self-honesty is the first step toward reform; whenever the intention is pure and the servant sincerely seeks repentance, they find a Generous and Merciful Lord who accepts repentance from His servants. Preserving the sanctity of Sharia rulings within the heart, even in moments of human weakness, is the fortress that prevents total moral collapse.
