The Danger of Pseudo-Enlightenment: A Reading into the Consequences of Extinguishing Religious Zeal

Common.writtenBy
The movement of so-called Enlighteners or secularists in our contemporary reality seeks to impose a pattern of diluted religiosity, where the Muslim is demanded to remain in absolute silence and maintain a constant smile in the face of evils, under false slogans such as personal freedom and non-interference in the affairs of others. The true goal of these calls is to strip the Muslim of their religious zeal (Ghayrah) and the moral values that urge reform.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned against reaching this state of value-apathy, as stated in Musnad Ahmad with a Sahih chain:
The Hour will not be established until Allah takes His elite from the people of the earth, leaving behind the dregs (ajajah) who neither recognize good nor denounce evil.
This Hadith paints a grim picture of a society that has lost its moral compass, where the concept of 'Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil' vanishes. This is exactly what secular advocates aspire to today; that we reach the stage of the "dregs" who do not distinguish between truth and falsehood.
Demolishing Constants and the Absence of Objection
In the prophecies of the End Times, the matter reaches the point of trivializing the most sacred of sanctities, as in the Hadith: "The Kaaba will be destroyed by Dhul-Suwayqatayn from Abyssinia." The dangerous insight here is not just the act of demolition, but the state of indifference that may afflict people then; for if an objector were to protest, someone calling himself an enlightener would rise to suppress his zeal and label it as extremism.
We are facing an attempt to manufacture an Islam without claws—an Islam detached from the Ummah's causes and from standing against injustice and evil. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the Muslim to take pride in their religion and values, and not allow these waves of dilution to shake their constants or extinguish the flame of zeal for the sanctities of Allah in their heart.
