The Myth of Energy Healing: A Reading of Steve Jobs' Experience and Medical Warnings

Indulging in healing delusions is among the most perilous challenges facing the modern mind, particularly when icons of technical intelligence and innovation fall into its trap. Perhaps the story of Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, represents a stark example of the danger of yielding to so-called alternative therapies based on Eastern philosophical concepts.
In his final days, despite his extraordinary genius, Jobs was led by beliefs such as bioenergy, the balance of Yin and Yang, and transcendental meditation as alternatives for treating cancer. This approach led to a catastrophic result; his health deteriorated at an accelerated pace due to the neglect of established medical protocols, allowing the disease to spread at a time when genuine medical intervention could have slowed the progression of the illness.
The Scientific Stance on Energy Healing
What some promote under the labels of energy charging or chakra balancing has no standing in rigorous scientific research. In this context, the National Council Against Health Fraud classifies energy healing practices as a form of medical fraud that lacks empirical evidence.
Preserving life is one of the higher objectives (Maqasid) of Sharia, which necessitates our caution against myths cloaked in the mantle of science or pseudo-spirituality. True healing occurs through adopting legitimate material causes and specialized medical consultations, far removed from the delusions of energy that may cost a human life.
