The Dangers of Informal Relationships and the Path to Jurisprudential Rectitude

Safeguarding one's religion and honor requires every Muslim man and woman to exercise extreme caution against slipping into emotional relationships that lack a legal and formal framework. That which exists outside the boundaries of the 'Solemn Covenant' is nothing but an exhaustion of the soul and an opening of the doors to fitnah (temptation) that may begin with a glance and end with dire consequences.
The Evils of Unregulated Relationships
The evils surrounding these relationships are numerous, most notably:
Falling into forbidden glances and unlawful seclusion (khalwah).
The consumption of time and effort in futile talk, which breeds lethargy toward acts of worship.
Exposing the heart to heartbreak and attachment to other than Allah, which distracts the servant from their ultimate purpose.
The potential for gradual descent toward major sins and actual calamities that destroy homes and reputations.
A Call to Repentance and Reform
The door of return to Allah is open to everyone whose foot has slipped, and the duty is to take the initiative to sever these relationships immediately to preserve one's faith and self. Allah the Almighty says in His decisive revelation:
{Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and reform, indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful.}
[Surah An-Nahl: 119]
Investing in Revelation
Instead of wasting hours in conversations that do not please Allah, the Muslim should invest their time in reciting the Holy Qur'an with contemplation. Let there be for you a daily portion (wird) of a Juz' or more, by which you compensate for lost time, purify your heart, and seek the pleasure of the Most Merciful.
