As the end of each year approaches and a new one begins, a negative phenomenon emerges, representing an annual market for the collapse of creed and the falsification of consciousness. The scene is dominated by those referred to as "astrologers" or "prediction experts," such as Leila Abdel Latif and others among the brethren of soothsayers, who seek to instill doubt in the Muslim regarding the constants of his religion and creed.
The Quranic Perspective on the Unseen
The Holy Quran has decisively settled the issue of the Unseen (Al-Ghayb), establishing it as a prerogative of Lordship (Rububiyyah) in which no creation shares. Allah the Almighty said:
Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."
[Surah Al-Naml: 65]
The Prophetic Warning Against Consulting Soothsayers
Islam did not stop at clarifying Allah's exclusivity in knowing the Unseen; rather, it established a protective fence for the creed by issuing a stern warning against believing these charlatans. The Prophet ﷺ said:
Whoever goes to a fortune-teller or a soothsayer and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.
The Sharia-mandated duty necessitates that a Muslim remains wary of these programs and publications that promote metaphysical predictions, and works to spread correct creedal awareness to protect society from sliding into the mire of soothsaying and polytheism.
