The Contemporary Fitnah of Al-Samiri: Between Energy Illusions and the Falsification of Creed

One who contemplates the stories of the Noble Qur’an realizes that the methods of seduction are similar even if the eras differ; in ancient times, Al-Samiri exploited the desire of the Children of Israel for purification, convincing them to discard the burdens of ornaments and gold, then fashioned for them a calf—a mere body with a lowing sound—and diverted them from the worship of Allah, the One, the Irresistible.
The Recurrence of the Model in the Modern Era
Today, we see this model repeated in modernized forms and glittering robes. There emerge proponents of so-called Energy Healing and certain Self-Development coaches who perform a role similar to that of Al-Samiri; they infiltrate the Muslim’s consciousness with utter quietude, deluding him into believing in his absolute power to control his destiny and shape his reality apart from the Will of Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He.
These paths do not stop at offering psychological or physical solutions; rather, they strike at the constants of the Creed, attempting to divert attention from the truths of Revelation toward the illusions of pagan and ancient Eastern spiritualities, leading to the gradual weakening of certainty in the heart of the believer.
Therefore, one must beware of anyone who attempts to distort the meanings of religious texts or present religion in alien frameworks that strip it of its monotheistic essence. Preserving the pure Creed is the only safeguard against these hidden traps set for the consciousness of the contemporary Muslim.
