In recent years, the Iranian landscape has witnessed profound and unsettling intellectual shifts. Statistical data indicates an unprecedented surge in rates of religious disaffiliation, presenting us with a significant civilizational and missionary challenge in the Middle East.
Based on an extensive study conducted by the GAMAAN Foundation, which included a sample of nearly 50,000 Iranians, the results revealed shocking figures that demand pause:
More than half of the Iranian people have abandoned traditional religious affiliation.
The percentage of those who believe in the Hereafter and Resurrection does not exceed approximately one-third of the population.
More than 60% of respondents oppose the inclusion of religious education for children in school curricula.
These statistics represent a true alarm bell; we are facing the largest process of creedal transformation in the modern history of the region. If this trajectory continues, we may witness the emergence of the first society with a dominant atheistic character in the heart of the Islamic world, which requires urgent action from everyone concerned for this religion.
Proposals for Targeted Da'wah Work
To confront this atheistic flood, we propose a set of practical paths in which specialists and activists can contribute:
Dubbing scientific da'wah clips that critique atheistic thought into the Persian language, and disseminating them through targeted advertising campaigns within Iran.
Translating central books that refute contemporary atheistic doubts and distributing them digitally and extensively via social media platforms.
Creating visual content that simplifies the concepts of the correct creed in the Persian language, away from sectarian complexities that may alienate the new generation.
Establishing workshops and training specialized da'wah teams for the Iranian file, possessing the necessary cognitive and linguistic tools for dialogue.
