Batiniyya: A Continuous Thread from the Assassins of Uthman (RA) to Contemporary Centers of Skepticism

Those who dared to shed the blood of the Rightly Guided Caliph Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) are the very same who represent the intellectual extension of everyone seeking today to undermine the pillars of the Creed, whether through modern platforms of skepticism or calls to deny the Prophetic Sunnah.

It is the Batiniyya sect, which appears throughout history under different names and changing forms, yet with identical agendas; from the Isma'ili Assassins of old to the promoters of pseudo-scientific energy healing and modern deniers of the Sunnah. This thread extending through Islamic history connects figures between whom the temporal distance may seem vast, yet the methodology remains one.

The Jurisprudence of the Companions in Detecting the Batiniyya

He who does not perceive this historical interconnection, and fails to glimpse the thread linking ancient tribulations to contemporary movements, is in dire need of re-reading the history and agendas of the Batiniyya. The stance of the noble Companions, led by Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), was not merely a political dispute, but a precise monitoring of a Batini mentality that had begun to penetrate the fabric of Islamic society at that time.

Therefore, it is obligatory to refrain from disparaging the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), for they are the noble masters and the most knowledgeable of people regarding the origins of tribulations and the points of defect. With the loss of their jurisprudence and understanding, the Batiniyya belittle the Ummah and spread within it.

When my Companions are gone, there will come to my Ummah what they were promised.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spoke the truth; the fortified fortress against the infiltration of contemporary Batiniyya is the return to the methodology of the Companions and their understanding of the religion.
