The Jurisprudence of Resolve in Ramadan: Between Life's Pressures and the Duty of Consistency

As the first days of the blessed month of Ramadan pass, a Muslim may find themselves facing a pressing question: Where has that resolve with which they welcomed the month gone? And how did distractions—including television series and other preoccupations—manage to steal the time that was supposed to be a major turning point in their life?
The Affliction of Affectation in Worship
One of the reasons for the waning of spiritual energy is overtaxing the soul beyond its capacity; a person may impose upon themselves litanies and remembrances that exceed their current abilities, leading to a swift cessation. The Prophetic methodology guides us that the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if they are small. What is required is continuity, even with a little, that binds the heart to its Creator.
The Lord of Causes and the Lord of the Universe
The pressures and difficulties of life do not soften except when Allah holds a central place in the servant's heart. We must not let the worldly causes we pursue—whether seeking marriage, knowledge, work, or healing—make us forget that the Causer of Causes is Allah, Glorified and Exalted. If Allah is pleased with the servant, difficult matters are eased and the doors of success are opened.
The worldly causes you pant after are but intermediaries; do not let them veil you from the Lord of the Universe and the Lord of Causes.
Let Ramadan be an opportunity to rearrange priorities and to flee from the clamor of screens to the vastness of acts of obedience, with the certainty that the facilitation of sustenance, healing, and success lies in the Hand of Allah alone.
